Gem of the Mediterranean sea and Costa Smeralda
Baja Sardinia is one of the most famous localities of the Costa Smeralda, situated in a bay with a fine-sand and clear-water beach in front of the Archipelago of La Maddalena and about 4 km west of Porto Cervo. This locality offers high-quality services: in fact, most of the best accommodation facilities of Sardinia are located here. The most popular sports are windsurfing and sailing thanks to the favourable combination of currents and winds that provides the ideal conditions to practice them. There are also five-a-side football fields and tennis courts, while the children can have fun with the mini-games in the pinewood or in the water park "Aquadream". Between Baja Sardinia and Porto Cervo there are numerous bars, pubs and disco-pubs, discotheques and night clubs. In Baja Sardinia there is the discotheque "Ritual", famous for its location inside a natural grotto which makes it one of the most charming places in Costa Smeralda.
The Archipelago of La Maddalena, recently declared protected reserve, is easily reachable by boat and ferry (round trip) that leave from the beach of Baja Sardinia every day to bring the tourists to the beautiful islands of Caprera, La Maddalena, Spargi, Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria. The two main islands of the archipelago (Caprera and La Maddalena) are also reachable by car thanks to a ferry service that links Palau to La Maddalena, while La Maddalena is linked to the island of Caprera with a suggestive iron bridge. Caprera has an uncontaminated landscape full of pinewoods behind the enchanting beaches and pink-granite rocks; here, the house of Giuseppe Garibaldi is located.
Baja Sardinia offers relaxing holidays in a quiet environment suitable for families, surrounded by greenery and by one of the most beautiful italian seas, a few km far from the villas of rich and famous people (like football players and other celebrities).
