Locality
Budoni is located on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, between the Gulf of Orosei and the Costa Smeralda; it is one of the most famous tourist destinations of the island. Little gem in the Baronie area, with its 18 km of coast and its white sandy beaches where nature is still uncontaminated, it is the perfect place for a relaxing and fun holiday in proximity of the popular San Teodoro, 12 km far. Many tourists are not only attracted by its wonderful landscapes but also by its history and rural culture. The town was born as an ancient sheepfold in Gallura with many hamlets and fractions such as San Lorenzo, Solità and San Pietro, that still preserve the typical agricultural/pastoral economy of the ancient Sardinia.

Places to know and visit
Archeological ruins: the Nuraghe Su Entosu, the Nuraghe Conca and Bebntu and the Domus De Jana, the Agliola in the Solità fraction.

Natural paths for the trekking and mountain-bike lovers with salt-water ponds surrounded by tamerisks and canes and populated by colonies of pink flamingoes studied by birdwatchers, those who observe the birds in their natural habit.

Village of Porto Ottiolu, ancient locality used by the Romans as a landing place. It has more than 400 landings and is the best place to start a boat trip to discover the beauties of the wonderful sardinian coasts.

Cala di Budoni, a few hundreds of metres from the town, is a 4-km long beach that extends from Punta Li Cucutti to Punta Porto Ainu; along the way, it is called with different names: Li Salineddi, Salamaghe, Lido del Sole and Sa Capannizza. The beach has fine white sand with bright reflections and a shallow crystal-clear sea with green and blue shades, suitable for children.

Sant'Anna Bay, in the hamlet of Tanaunella, south of Budoni. The golden-sand beach offers a suggestive landscape with view on the Pedrami islet. It is an uncontaminated bay without private services and less populated even during the high season, loved by fishermen and scuba divers for its rocky bottom.

Li Cucutti beach, in Agrustos, north of Budoni, owes its name to the turtle. It is 3 km long and is surrounded by rocks and a pinewood. The deep blue of the sea with turquoise shades is in contrast with the light colours of the sand.

Isuledda, in the municipality of San Teodoro, with view on the wonderful Tavolara Island, the coasts of Capo Coda Cavallo and Puntaldia. The beach extends for about 500 meters and has fine white sand with bright relfections and shallow water with blue and emerald-green shades, suitable for children. The scented mediterranean scrub that surrounds the beach is full of juniper, heather, corbezzolo and myrtle bushes that make the landscape even more spectacular.

The Castello della Fava owes its name to a legend according to which, around the 1300, a turkish fleet landed on the coasts and besieged Posada in order to conquer it by starving its inhabitants to death. The inhabitants of Posada tried to deceive the invaders by feeding a pigeon on the last handful of fava beans and hurting him a little bit; this pigeon fell in the turkish camp revealing the stomach full of fava beans, so the besigers thought that the inhabitants of Posada were so rich that they could afford feeding a pigeon on such a precious vegetable. Consequently, they gave up and left Sardinia.
