Passo Del Tonale

Passo del Tonale is located at 1,883 meters above sea level and constitutes the Alpine pass that connects the Val di Sole and the Alta Valle Camonica.
Until the 1960s it was a place where shepherds and farmers lived, humble people who struggled daily with the harsh mountain environment to survive. Today the Tonale Pass is one of the best equipped and efficient winter tourist centers in the Alps. It is part of the large "Adamello Ski" area, which thanks to modern ski lifts, guarantees 100 km of slopes that are always well covered with snow, even with the help of cannons shoot snow.

Together with Ponte di Legno, Temù and the Presena Glacier, Passo del Tonale is a paradise for ski enthusiasts. You can ski up to 3,000 meters of altitude on the Presena Glacier and the lifts are also open in summer, so the fun in the snow lasts 12 months a year! With a single ski pass you can use all the ski lifts, so every day you can take a different itinerary, experimenting with the challenging slopes of Temù that wind through the conifers or all the other routes that make up the Adamello Ski area.

In recent years, the passion for snowboarding has also broken out in Italy; here at Passo del Tonale some slopes have been created with fresh snow and beaten snow to have fun with the board on your feet, moreover there are snow parks where you can perform acrobatics in complete safety.

The more adventurous will be able to practice fascinating ski mountaineering, for which good training and as much familiarity with skis are required ... but fun and strong emotions are certainly guaranteed! For the practice of any type of skiing instructors and mountain guides are available, both to teach the basic techniques and to improve the knowledge you already have; obviously the guides are available to accompany ski mountaineers during their excursions, recommending routes and useful suggestions.

If you are not a ski lover, do not worry, the Passo del Tonale guarantees fun and entertainment for everyone! You can take suggestive walks with snowshoes (snowshoes) in the woods or on the snowy slopes to discover peace, tranquility and perhaps some animals that make up the native fauna. It will be a truly unforgettable experience, walking on fresh snow, in close contact with nature.
Another alternative can be dog sledding, or letting yourself be rocked on a sled pulled by dogs. Dog sledding greatly fascinates those who try it for the first time and children especially like it ... thus making it a fun experience for the whole family.
A holiday can be fully enjoyed if it is also tasted with the palate and this is the territory where traditions have not been lost, indeed, they survive even more even at the table.
The specialties are those of the two valleys that overlook the foot of the Tonale Pass, namely the Val di Sole and the Valle Camonica.

Typically Trentino you can taste the exceptional dumplings, speck, strudel and fregolotti cake, while on the Lombard side, polenta, venison or venison salami and excellent cow, sheep and goat cheeses are offered. The Presena Glacier, with its 3,000 meters of altitude, is equipped with a ski lift that takes you up and allows you to reach the off-piste slopes of Mandrone, Cima Venezia, Maroccaro and Pisgana. But the glacier cable car is also used by those who love trekking in the summer, in fact, once you get to the top you can follow a series of walkways that were beaten by soldiers during the First World War.
