The sports lovers cannot miss a visit to the "Riserva Naturale Orientata Bosco Pantano", a protected natural area in the province of Matera established in the 1999. This natural site extends for 500 acres and 21 of these acres belong to the WWF: the Oasi WWF Policoro Herakleia, full of trekking paths. There is also the Pantano of Policoro, a wooded area in the plain that represents all that is left of the original Pantano Soprano and Pantano Sottano woods.
