The 19 Resort in Santa Cesarea Terme, in the heart of Salento, is a recently-built facility that has apartments with wide glass walls, terraces or patio, and some of them offer a great sea view. Its location makes the resort the ideal place for those who want to visit Salento and discover its culture, traditions and most beautiful beaches. There are two floors connected by an elevator and the apartments have a minimum extension of 30 square meters, exquisitely furnished, each one with bathroom and shower, LCD TV, air conditioning, security box, minibar (supply on request), balcony or patio with tables and chairs, some of them with kitchen area (extra cost for those who choose the hotel formula). 350 meters far from the hotel, walking on a suggestive track, there is a wonderful 3000-square meter area full of small salty bodies of water equipped with a gazebo, umbrellas and sunbeds. In this area (the 19 Summer Club), there are three innovative lagoon pools, different from the traditional pools because of their low environmental impact. They are highly eco-friendly and building them did not require the use of concrete or walls: the structural covering made of quartz and marble pebbles is what makes them unique and exclusive and look like a natural beach. These pools and the addition of rocks and other natural elements are the reason why the 19 Summer Club is so original. In 2013 it was acknowledged as the biggest and most innovative beach resort in Europe. The Resort has a designated area for children, a fitness area and indoor/outdoor private and non-supervised car parks. The beach is 350 meters far from the resort and is connected to it by a shuttle service in preset hours.

Restaurant
The 19 Resort offers a restaurant and a bar with an air-conditioned internal room and an outdoor dining room in the heart of the facility. Here, breakfast and dinner are served. At breakfast, there is a buffet service with sweet and savoury foods and coffee dispenser. At dinner there is a waiter service (beverages are not included). At the 19 Summer Club there are a wonderful restaurant and a bar with a wide external room; they offer a service of light lunch with the possibility to taste the most traditional dishes (seafood and meat) of the gastronomy of Salento, fried food, pizza, salads and many other specialties. Foods for people with intolerances are available: always inform the hotel management during the booking.

Locality
Located on the eastern coast of the peninsula of Salento, at the entrance of the Otranto Canal, Santa Cesarea Terme is one of the main tourist localities of the area, with its plain full of centuries-old olive trees and a rocky coastline with sea stacks, caves and little bays. One of the main features of this place is the presence of thermal springs, with water around 30°C, in four caves called Gattulla, Solfurea, Fetida and Solfatara. Santa Cesarea Terme extends on a green hillside covered in majestic pinewoods that slopes down to the emerald-green sea. Its historical center is characterized by Moorish castles (first of all the Palazzo Sticchi), noble cottages and simple white modern buildings. The cliff edge, overlooking the sea full of sea stacks and prehistoric caves, is embellished with the little beach of Porto Miggiano where the crystal-clear sea meets the golden sand.

Places to know and visit
Chiesa Madre del Sacro Cuore, built during the fourteenth century in the place where, according to the legend, the Cesaria Virgin died. In 1924 it was entrusted to the Frati Minori, who replaced it with a new building and 30 years later it was promoted to parish church. It has a simple facade with a gate and a central rose window. The inside is divided in a central nave and two aisle that end up in the altar, dominated by the statue of the Sacro Cuore di Gesù. The most artistically-interesting feature is the papier-mâché statue of the Santa Cesaria Vergine.

Villa Sticchi is the most important representative of the Moorish style, widespread among some coastal centers in Salento during the nineteenth century. The building is located 20 meters on the sea level, on a cliff overlooking the sea. On the outside, Villa Sticchi is surrounded by a portico on three sides. The facade is organized on two floors connected by a double staircase that ends up in a wide loggia. Inside the building there are the vestibule, the rectangular hall and the apse that sticks out on the terrace. The floorings are realized with a mosaic technique with geometric patterns.

Villa Raffaella was built during the second half of the nineteenth century as the summer house of the Baroness Raffaella, from the Lubelli family. Emilio Corti, famous architect and milanese engineer, was the one who built the house and the thermal facilityof Santa Cesarea. Its style is eclectic; the majestic facade is harmoniously composed of pillars and empty spaces, like the balustrade sustained by arches on pillars. The octagonal tower and the terrace are decorated with a floral motif that lightens its austere appearance. Inside, a staircase at the end of the octagonal entrance leads to the first floor, full of vaults and walls covered with stucco. Currently the villa is an accommodation facility.

Palazzo Tamborino, also known as Palazzo Miramare, was built during the first years of the twentieth century by the senator Vincenzo Tamborino. It is located on a cliff and has a private access to the sea. It was used as a casino by Doctor Francesco della Gatta, who committed himself to creating the little Marina during the second world war and the postwar period.

The coastal towers, wanted by Carlo V in the sixteenth century, were all built to protect the territory from the threats coming from the sea. This fear pushed the local sovereigns to fortify the cities and the castles and to build a continuous series of communicating sighting points that were able to raise the alarm if needed. The coastal towers in Santa Cesarea Terme are four: Torre Santa Cesarea, Torre Miggiano, Torre Specchia di Guardia and Torre Minervino.

Thermal springs. Santa Cesarea Terme is located on a coastline full of thermal springs. The water full of chloride, sulfur and iodine flows at various temperatures in four natural caves connected to the sea: Gattulla, Fetida, Sulfurea and Solfatara. When the water of the caves arrives at the thermal centers, it reaches temperatures of 36-37°C against the 30°C of the natural spring. The local inhabitants have known about their healthy effect since ancient times, but the scientific recognition only came during the nineteenth century and mostly during the first decades of the twentieth century, when the thermal center Gattulla was inaugurated.

Museo del Mare. The museum of the sea, set up in the monastery of Frati Minori, is divided into three sections that describe the sea life through findings collected by Umberto Pessolano, scientific director of the museum, and Leo Paiano, president of the association "ECODIMARE", during their trips and expeditions around the world. In the museum there are various marine species such as bivalve, crustaceans, sponges, echinoderms, cephalopods from the Mediterranean but also from exotic seas.

Porto Miggiano is located in the southern part of Santa Cesarea Terme. It is mainly a small rocky beach set in a calcareous cave. The coast is full of little caves inhabited since the prehistory. In Porto Miggiano, there is the namesake sixteenth-century tower and a small tourist harbour. During the sixteenth century, in this harbour there were the quarries where stones used for the building of the towers were extracted.
