The Hotel Terme Royal Palm, by the sea, is the perfect place for those who want to take advantage of the thermal waters of Ischia in the thermal centre of the hotel, associated with the NHS, where the guests can receive thermal muds or inhalations (with medical prescription). The building has the charm of a mediterranean villa, surrounded by a big park with olive trees and palm trees overlooking the coast, suspended between the blue of the sky and the sea. The Hotel Terme Royal Palm is in proximity of the historical centre of Forio, reachable walking along the seafront, full of architectural renaissance elements and monumental churches. The hotel has three types of rooms: rooms with view on the garden, rooms with sea view and Junior Suite with sea view. The rooms with view on the garden have a balcony that overlooks the park of the hotel and are exquisitely furnished and equipped with all the comforts. The rooms with sea view have a balcony that overlooks the coast from which it is possible to admire the beautiful sunsets over the beaches of Citara and Cava dell'Isola. The Junior Suites with sea view are all furnished in different ways and evoke the atmosphere of an elegant villa; they all overlook the beach of Cava dell'Isola.
Locality
Forio d'Ischia is the island's second municipality for population and importance. It is located between two promontories: Punta Caruso and Punta Imperatore, and offers the most beautiful beaches of Ischia in an enchanting landscape that combines the coasts and the vines that adorn the western side of the Mount Epomeo. Forio extends for 13 square km and, thanks to its rocky recesses, it is possible to bathe not only on its sandy beaches, but also in unique places such as the coast of Zaro and the Sorgeto bay, famous for its thermal springs flowing directly from the bottom of the sea at high temperatures (bathing is also possible during the winter). Forio is the municipality that best preserved its historical centre full of alleys, churches and sighting towers that make it the cultural centre of the island. During the '50s it was the favourite destination of many celebrities such as Luchino Visconti, Pierpaolo Pasolini, Sir William Walton, Eduardo de Filippo and artists such as Elsa Morante, Alberto Moravia, Auden, Pablo Neruda and many others.
Places to know and visit
The beach of Citara, characterized by fine sand and shallow water is suitable for children; it has a free area and many private beach clubs.
The beach of La Chiaia, the biggest in Forio, is suitable for families with children thanks to the entertaining services (surcharge required) and to its particularly shallow water. Its white sand and its characteristic bottom right after the rocks make this beach the ideal place for the snorkeling lovers.
The beach of Cava dell'Isola is usually populated by young people who enjoy playing beach volley and beach soccer, and it is the ideal place for those who want to have fun in its crystal-clear water and wild landscape.
The Poseidon Thermal Gardens are the largest and most beautiful pool park in Ischia, with 20 pools, 500 metres of coast, 8000 square meters of beach, 1 wellness centre and 6 hectares of terraces.
Zaro's wood is a suggestive path that links Lacco Ameno to Forio. Famous for its viewpoint on the beach of San Francesco, it is also a place of worship dedicated to the Madonna of Zaro.
Following the main street in the shopping centre of the municipality, it is possible to reach the famous square where the Chiesa del Soccorso is located, from where it is possible to admire the famous Green Flash, only visible in particular periods of the year.
The Chiesa del Soccorso, a church overlooking the sea. Together with the Torrione, it is the symbol of the municipality of Forio and one of the main architectural masterpieces of the island.
Ravino and La Mortella gardens are the perfect places for nature lovers and those who want to know rare subtropical and mediterranean plants. La Mortella Garden was recognized as the most beautiful botanical garden in Italy in 2004.
