Things to see in Noci

Noci is located in the province of Bari, Apulia, in a strategic position halfway between Bari and Taranto and a few km far from three important UNESCO sites: the Trulli di Alberobello, the Sassi di Matera and Castel del Monte, brilliant example of medieval architecture. Staying in Noci it is also possible to visit the nearby Castellana with its grottos, Polignano a Mare (the "pearl of the mediterranean sea"), Putignano with the most ancient Carnival of the world, the hamlets of the Itria Valley and Bari with its peculiar historical centre.

Noci is part of the "Murgia dei Trulli" area, a territory full of rural structures, trulli and "masserie" (large farms) and a rich woodland heritage mostly made of a particular type of oak. The historical centre's alleys and streets are full of "gnostre", particular spaces that front onto the street and the alleys.

In proximity of the centre there is the Church of Santa Maria della Scala with annexed benedectine convent and book-restoration laboratory where many volumes that had been damaged by the flood of 1966 were recovered. The warehouse of an old mill hosts the Literary Park Formiche di Puglia, hotbed of events and cultural intitiatives.
