What see in Palermo

Palermo

Capital of the Sicilian region, it is considered the cultural and economic hub between the Mediterranean Sea and Europe. The historic center of Palermo is divided into four districts (Loggia-Castellammare, Tribunali-Kalsa, Palazzo Reale and Monte di Pietà-Capo) linked to the two historic arteries of the city: the Cassaro and via Maqueda, a road perpendicular to the first and which, at at the intersection with this, it creates the Quattro Canti di Città square. A stone's throw from Piazza Quattro Canti, we find Piazza Pretoria, renamed Piazza della Vergogna by the people because of the large fountain that dominates the square. A little over a hundred meters away are the churches of Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio (but the Palermitans prefer to call it "La Martorana") and San Cataldo. A few kilometers from the center of Palermo there are enchanting sandy or rocky beaches. The beach of Palermo is located in Mondello, part of the municipality of Palermo, a white sand beach bathed by a crystalline sea where the predominant colors are the green of the vegetation on the mountains and the blue of the sea. Also worth mentioning is the bay of Carini, on which Isola delle Femmine stands, a small town squeezed between two nature reserves and lapped by a crystalline sea.
