Things to see in Torre Vado
Torre Vado is the marina of the municipality of Morciano di Leuca, lower Salento, at a short distance from Santa Maria di Leuca and is one of the most important beach localities on the Ionian sea. Its beach extends for many kilometers and has white sand and shallow crystal-clear water suitable for children. The inhabited centre developed around a sixteenth-century saracenic tower built by the Spanish, together with many other fortifications built to protect the land from the turkish and saracenic invaders.
In Torre Vado, public and private administrative institutions have the task of protecting culture, nature, traditions and folklore. Those who decide to spend their holidays in Torre Vado will not only find natural wonders but also many traditional events: food festivals, theatrical representations, shows and "pizzica", the traditional local dance.
