Casamicciola Terme is located in the northern area of the island of Ischia and has a commercial and tourist harbour. It extends for 5,5 square km and is mainly hilly. The thermal springs that are located in Casamicciola made this tourist municipality famous for its high-quality therapies.
There are three main thermal basins in Casamicciola: Gurgitello's basin, in the eastern area of Piazza Bagni at the base of the Ombrasco hill; Cotto and Sinigallia's basin, in the western area of Piazza Bagni at the base of the Olivo and Pero hills; La Rita's basin, at the base of the Cesa hill, in the La Rita Cave, on the western side of Casamicciola. There are also the thermal springs of Castiglione that have their own basin.
Casamicciola Terme was already a famous thermal centre in the past: Garibaldi, Ibsen and Lamartine came here to take advantage of the healing properties of these waters. Casamicciola, highly populated by tourists, offers many hotels, accommodation facilities, a modern harbour and efficient thermal centres (often located right inside the hotels) that, together with the natural beauties of this place, will make its visitors fall in love with this heavenly municipality of the "green island".
