Costa Rei

Costa Rei, more rarely known as Costa Rey, is a seaside village of Muravera, located along the south-eastern coast of Sardinia. The locality extends for about 10 km, from Porto Pirastu to Cala Sinzias, and has the ideal center at the foot of Monte Nai (200 m) which also gives its name to the surrounding area. The urban agglomeration is divided into the areas of Sa Perda Niedda, Sa Murta (center), Le Ginestre, Gli Asfodeli, I Ginepri (south), Turagri, Rei Marina and Rei Plaia (north). Developed at the end of the 1960s, the tourist-real estate structure of Costa Rei can be traced back to the initiative of the two Belgian builders Heimann Tailler and Edgar Yvan, in addition to the German Bastian Barthelmess. The monument par excellence of Costa Rei is the "Casa della Contessa", the oldest and not easily accessible house that embraces the whole coast and from which you can admire a fantastic panorama of the town. Destination for many tourists, especially young people, the house of the countess has long been abandoned and has been affected by many legends.

Populated mostly in the summer, Costa Rei is the destination of many tourists who can spend lively evenings in the three squares: piazza Rei Marina, piazza Italia, piazza Sardegna. The town enjoys a renowned reputation for its very clear and fine sand beaches. The beach is also famous for the Peppino rock, in Santa Giusta, a low and wide rock visited by tourists all year round. In addition to the authenticity of the beaches which are for the most part free, here there are picturesque coves and above all a crystalline and uncontaminated sea. In 2009, the resort was awarded the "Travel blogger award" by the prestigious travel guide publishing house "Lonely Planet", which included Costa Rei among the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.
