Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the city of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a modern and cosmopolitan city. The city tour will provide an overview of the Jordanian capital, featuring the Citadel and the Roman Theatre, two of the city’s most famous archaeological sites, as well as the Folklore and Archaeology Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, departure for the desert, just a few kilometers from Amman. In this area, the famous castles of Amra, Azraq, and Karaneh were built, which resemble more aristocratic palaces than actual fortresses. These structures date back to the 7th century, a time when the Umayyads wanted to present themselves as the princes of the desert Bedouins. Return to Amman in the late afternoon, dinner at the hotel, and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Traveling along the ancient King's Highway (dating back 5,000 years), we reach Madaba, where we visit the Church of Saint George, home to the famous mosaic map known as the “Map of the Holy Land”, which illustrates the various routes to Jerusalem from major cities of the Middle East. This remarkable artwork dates back to the 6th century. We then continue to Mount Nebo, the site from which Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land and where, according to tradition, he was buried. A small square church was built here by early Byzantine Christians and later expanded into a large complex. Lunch at a local restaurant. The journey continues with a visit to the impressive Crusader castle of Shobak, built in 1115, set in a remote and wild landscape - a place that captivates even the most indifferent traveler. Arrival in Petra in the late afternoon. Check-in at the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. The entire day will be dedicated to visiting Petra, the Nabataean capital and one of the famous trade centers of the Middle East. Protected by the rose-colored rocks of the Jordanian mountains, ancient Petra enjoyed extraordinary wealth until the 8th century, when it was abandoned. The visit to the city's archaeological site is incredibly atmospheric: walking along a narrow and winding path through the rocks, inside a deep canyon called the Siq, we reach the so-called “Treasury”, a building entirely carved into the rock. After a short stop, we continue downhill towards the Roman Theatre, Qasr Bint Pharaoun, the Temple of the Winged Lions, and other monuments. Lunch in a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. The day begins with a visit to Beida, also known as Little Petra, the place where the Nabataeans used to host their guests. It is one of the main crossroads of Petra, the entry and exit point of the trade routes heading north and northwest. Merchants likely stayed in the cool seclusion of the Siq Al-Barid, the “cold canyon”, whose entrance lies at the end of a narrow valley. Afterwards, a 2-hour 4x4 jeep tour in Wadi Rum, the desert known as the Valley of the Moon, following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia and climbing sand dunes and rock bridges. It is a valley carved into sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan, about 60 km east of Aqaba. Lunch in a local restaurant. Then departure for Amman along the Desert Highway. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6 Amman → Italy
