Breakfast at the hotel, then departure along the historic King’s Highway towards Madaba, the “City of Mosaics.” Here, visit the Church of Saint George, famous for housing the oldest map of the Holy Land embedded in its floor. Madaba boasts numerous precious mosaics scattered across public and private buildings. Continue to Mount Nebo, a sacred site with panoramic views over the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, where a Byzantine church is protected by a structure built by the Franciscans. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Shobak Castle, a fortress built in 1115 by King Baldwin I to control the routes between Egypt and Damascus. The castle resisted until 1189 when it fell to Saladin’s troops. Departure for Petra, dinner, and overnight stay at the hotel.

History
Food
Breakfast at the hotel. The entire day will be dedicated to visiting the archaeological site of the Nabatean capital. Ancient Petra was one of the major trading centers in the Middle East. Protected by the pinkish rocks of the Jordanian mountains, Petra experienced extraordinary wealth until the 8th century, when it was abandoned. The entrance to the archaeological area is truly spectacular: walking through a path inside a deep canyon, surrounded by sculptures and engineering works (the Siq), we reach the so-called “Treasury,” a building entirely carved into the rock. After a short break, the tour continues downhill towards the Roman Theater, Qasr Bint Pharaoun, the Temple of the Winged Lions, and other monuments. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

Food
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Beida, also known as Little Petra, where you’ll enjoy a pleasant walk through Siq Al-Barid, once the Nabatean trading hub. Visit the archaeological site featuring tombs, water channels, rock-cut cisterns, temples, and fresco remains on plaster. This small settlement was used by the Nabateans to host caravans from Arabia and the East, and it was the site of many religious activities, including the Drink Festival, when the Nabatean king organized celebrations and offered drinks to his guests. After the visit, continue to the Wadi Rum desert, also called the Valley of the Moon, with ancient riverbeds, wind-sculpted mountains, and vast desert landscapes with pastel-colored smooth sands. This desert area, Jordan’s most scenic, is famous as the backdrop of the film "Lawrence of Arabia." Followed by a 2-hour 4x4 jeep tour and lunch at a local restaurant. Departure for Amman via the desert highway. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
