Tour description
Discover the extraordinary beauty of Jordan with our Jordan Discovery Tour. Journeying through ancient archaeological sites, hidden treasures, and breathtaking landscapes led by expert local guides. Starting from Amman, the modern capital, we will explore the Roman ruins of Jerash, visit Petra, the pink city carved into the rock and its Treasure, then proceed to the Monastery, a majestic work carved into the mountain by the Nabateans between the 2nd and 1st centuries BC to house the remains of King Obodas.
We will continue the tour with an exciting jeep adventure in the Wadi Rum desert, where we will camp under a fantastic starry sky and enjoy a traditional dinner. We will reach the Dead Sea where we will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the salty waters and experience a fantastic moment. Departure from Italy by scheduled flight. Arrival in Amman, meeting with the local representative who will assist you with entry procedures. Transfer to the hotel and check-in to the reserved rooms. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 Amman → Desert Castles → Amman

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit of the city of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, known in the Iron Age as Rabbath Ammon and later as Philadelphia, one of the ten Greco-Roman cities of the urban confederation called the Decapolis. More recently, it has been nicknamed the “White City” due to the use of white stones in the construction of its houses. Visit to the Roman Theatre, the Citadel, and the Folklore and Archaeological Museum. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, excursion to the Desert Castles, built by the Umayyad caliphs of Damascus in the 7th and 8th centuries. Amra Castle features beautiful wall frescoes, a rare example of Islamic painting. Al-Kharanah Castle is very well preserved. Azraq Castle dates back to the Roman era and is located in a palm oasis. Dinner and overnight stay in Amman.

Day 3 Amman → Madaba → Mount Nebo → Shobak → Petra

Breakfast and departure towards Petra along the King's Highway. Along the way, stops will be made to visit some of Jordan's most important sites. Visit to Madaba, a small Christian town south of Amman. You will discover splendid Byzantine mosaics, especially the "Madaba Map", preserved in the Church of St. George - the oldest surviving map of the Middle East, and a must-see. Continuation to Mount Nebo. From the site, there is a stunning view of the Dead Sea and the mountains of the Judean desert. It's easy to imagine Moses looking out over the Promised Land from this very spot, knowing he would never enter it. Here, the Franciscans built a structure to protect a Byzantine church dating from the 4th to 6th centuries. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Next, visit to Shobak Castle, built in 1115. It was the first in a long series of fortifications constructed beyond the Jordan River by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem to control the road from Egypt to Damascus. It successfully withstood many attacks until it fell to Saladin's forces in 1189. Arrival in Wadi Musa (Petra), hotel check-in, dinner, and overnight stay. -

Breakfast at the hotel. Full day dedicated to the visit of Petra, a city carved into the pink-red rocks of the Sharah Mountains by the Nabataeans. This site was rediscovered after many years by the Swiss explorer Burckhardt. Walk through the Siq, a narrow and winding path between the rocks, to reach the Treasury, a building entirely carved into the rock, the Roman Theater, Qasr Bint Pharaoun, the Temple of the Winged Lions, and other monuments. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay in Petra.

Day 5 Petra → Beida (Little Petra) → Wadi Rum

Breakfast at the hotel. Just a 15-minute drive away is Beida, known as Little Petra, where you can enjoy a pleasant walk through this siq that was once the center of Nabataean trade. Afterwards, departure for the Wadi Rum desert, with its spectacular lunar landscape, where the film Lawrence of Arabia was shot. Then, a 4x4 vehicle excursion to visit some of the most iconic places in Wadi Rum. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay in a tented camp in the Wadi Rum desert.

Day 6 Wadi Rum → Bethany → Dead Sea

Breakfast at the hotel. Passing along the Arabian Road, visit Bethany, the site of the settlement of Saint John the Baptist, where Jesus was baptized, as reported in the Bible (John 1:28 and 10:40) and in Byzantine and medieval texts. Continue to the Dead Sea, a place sunny all year round, located in the Jordan Valley about 422 meters below sea level; it is one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world. Lunch at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel on the Dead Sea. Free afternoon available for bathing activities and mud treatments. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 8 Dead Sea → Amman → Italy
Breakfast (depending on the departure time) and transfer to Amman airport in time for the return flight to Italy, without a guide.

General travel information
Remember to bring a valid passport with an expiration date of no less than 6 months at the time of entry into the country. The currency in Jordan is the Dinar (JOD).
Visas and vaccinations
The visa is obtained upon arrival at the airport through the assistance of our correspondent, provided that the passport data is sent to our offices at least 7 days before departure. Vaccinations are not required for those coming from Italy.
