Tour description
Vietnam and Angkor - From Rice Fields to Temples is a 10-day tour combining the rural landscapes of Northern Vietnam with the great archaeological complexes of Angkor, travelling through rice fields, villages, mountains and bays before reaching Siem Reap.
From Hanoi, the journey continues to Mai Chau, where a bicycle ride passes through the villages of Cha Long and Na Tang, home to White Thai, Muong and Tay communities. The itinerary then reaches Pu Luong, with trekking through Kho Muong and walks around the villages of Don and Hieu, surrounded by terraced rice fields and mountain landscapes.
The journey continues to Tam Coc, in the Ninh Binh region, with a boat trip through caves and limestone formations, followed by the climb to Hang Mua. The tour then reaches Halong Bay, where an overnight cruise aboard a traditional junk is included, before returning to Hanoi.
From the Vietnamese capital, the journey continues by air to Siem Reap, the gateway to the archaeological heritage of Angkor. Visits include Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Bayon, together with some of the most significant remains of the ancient Khmer royal city.
The final part of the journey is dedicated to the Roluos Group, including Preah Ko, Lolei and Bakong, as well as Ta Prohm and Pre Rup. An excursion on Tonle Sap Lake leads to the floating village of Kampong Phluk, before the experience concludes with dinner accompanied by a traditional Apsara dance performance.
An itinerary through Vietnam and Angkor combining Mai Chau, Pu Luong, Tam Coc, Halong and Siem Reap, from the landscapes and rural communities of Northern Vietnam to the great temples of Khmer civilisation.
